Apple Valley High School Lockdown Lifted After Unfounded Weapon Threat

UPDATE 2:30PM: AVUSD released an official statement saying that at around 12:30 pm a call was made to the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Department reporting a threat of an apparent weapon on campus at Apple Valley High School. Apple Valley Police took the lead and, with the support of school administration and AVUSD district police, followed the established safety protocols. Students were at lunch and quickly moved indoors while authorities established that the campus was completely safe and secure.

After a thorough investigation, the threat was determined to be unfounded. The same phone number that reported to the Sheriff’s Department has been connected to a previous hoax incident at another high school in San Bernardino County. As in all cases, the district followed a well-established protocol to ensure the safety of students and staff. The district reminds people that ” in all cases, if you see something, hear something, or sense something, say something.”

UPDATE 1:56 PM: AVUSD officials told Daily News that the lockdown has been lifted and confirmed that students have returned to class. AVUSD stated that the campus is now clear. The report of a weapon on campus is unfounded. Dismissal will follow as normal.
