On Thursday at approximately 3:20 a.m., deputies with the Victorville Police Department were requested to respond to the 14700 block of La Paz Drive. A witness told Sheriff’s Dispatch two subjects were in the IHOP parking lot and appeared to be taking a canopy used by the restaurant for patrons to dine, due to Covid-19 restrictions.
Upon arrival, Deputy J. Hernandez located the suspects, later identified as Corey Greene and Daniel Chase, in front of the restaurant in a van. The men had loaded the canopy and its frame into the van. Through investigation, Hernandez discovered the restaurant had purchased the canopy and had not given Greene and Chase permission to take it.
Greene and Chase were arrested for grand theft and booked at High Desert Detention Center. Both are being held in lieu of $25,000 bail and are scheduled to appear in Victorville Superior Court on January 11, 2021.
