SAN BERNARDINO -- Deputies say a man from the High Desert was arrested following a hit-and-run incident into a Chevron Gas Station on Wagon Train Road in San Bernardino.
When deputies arrived they say they were responding to what they were told was a "shots fired" report. What they learned was the driver of a 2021 Ford Explorer drove his SUV into the front of the Chevron gas station, hitting a minor that stood inside. Instead of staying at the accident, the man left the scene in his vehicle, while an unidentified person shot at him with a gun.
The minor sustained light injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
Deputies say during an area check, the SUV was located on the north bound shoulder of the 15 freeway, the driver was identified as Kevin Williams.
"Williams displayed signs and symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol. The person who shot at the suspect also left the scene and his identity is unknown," says the sheriff's department.
Williams was arrested for felony hit and run, causing injury, suspicion of DUI, and was booked at the Central Detention Center in San Bernardino. Williams is being held on $40,000 bail.
