Reports have said that witnesses saw two children and some speculated that another child might have been inside the car when the vehicle started in reverse, running over the 4 year old girl. Police continue to say that the cause of the accident has not been determined. 

Original story: On Saturday, October 16, 2021, around 3:30 p.m., Victorville Police and Fire to the Victor Valley Town Center (12199 Hesperia Road) in reference a vehicle vs. pedestrian traffic collision involving a 4-year-old child. The shopping center houses stores like the Vons supermarket, Del Taco, Petco, Ross and Tonyan's Coffee.

When first responders arrived they found the 4-year-old girl unresponsive with major injuries. Despite life saving measures, the little girl was pronounced dead at Desert Valley Hospital.

According to officials, for reasons still unknown, the vehicle backed over the child in the parking lot at the Victor Valley Town Center. A large area of the parking lot remained closed off while the investigation had happened.  All parties involved and witnesses remained on scene.
