A woman from Apple Valley has died after her 2015 GMC truck ran her over in reverse. It happened at a campground in Sage, California which is located in Riverside County.

The name of the 65-year-old woman has not publicly been disclosed yet, however, it's known that the accident happened at the Tucalota Springs campground in southwest region of Riverside County.

According to CHP, a few minutes just before 7:00 a.m., the woman got out of her 2015 GMC Canyon, but the truck was left in gear in the reverse position.

It appears that no one reported witnessing the accident, but an investigation concluded that the GMC truck rolled backward, "knocking the woman down and pinning her underneath the left front tire," said Officer Mike Lassig, a CHP spokesman.

Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department and the CHP found the woman dead once they arrived.

Authorities discovered two dogs in the truck , but it was unclear whether the woman was handling them at the time of the accident. The dogs were not hurt and were turned over to a friend or family member of the victim according to CHP.
