The Town of Apple Valley slowly getting ready to resume a variety of sports, recreation, and activity programs in the coming weeks; including the launch of a themed summer day camp. In addition to the latest news, the Town will reopen the aquatic center while expanding its popular running series. Here's a break down at what's on deck in the coming weeks:
Recreational Sports Programs
Registration for the Town of Apple Valley’s youth co-ed volleyball league has recently opened. In addition, volleyball player assessments will be held May 3, and practices begin the week of May 17. Games will be played in the Michael H. Martin Gym at James Woody Park beginning the week of May 24.
All interested basketball players can maintain their skills this summer in the Town’s Summer Youth Co-ed Basketball league. Practice starts the week of June 28 for games between July 10 and August 28. The Town says that the program will emphasize sportsmanship, learning basic skills, teamwork and fun. All girls and boys entering grades 2 - 12 are invited to play.
Pickleball will return on Monday, April 19 with open recreational play scheduled on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Aquatic Center Activities
The Aquatic Center at Civic Center Park will reopen on Saturday, May 29 for recreational swim sessions; group, private and semi-private lessons; dive-in movies, a cardboard boat regatta and overnight pool parties. Interested residents can visit the recreation website for schedule and pricing. Registration for Aquatic programs will open April 26.
Summer Day Camp
Registration will open April 26 for Summer Day Camp. The camp is expected to offer fun activities for kids with different themes each week for students who are between 1st and 8th grade. The Town says that the day camp is a safe and affordable option for families seeking childcare over the summer; or, as space permits, as a week to week alternative of fun and unique experiences to break up a long summer.
Day camp operates from 7:15 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. Monday through Friday with full-week and three days per week options. Themes planned this year include:
- Games, Games, Games: From virtual to board games, we will play them all!
