Victor Valley High School, Goodwill High School and the Victor Valley Union High School District office complex were locked down for approximately 25 minutes Thursday due to an incident near the VVHS campus.

Initial reports indicate that an altercation between a student and a non-student began in a student parking area shortly after noon and continued in a neighborhood off campus. Once off campus, the non-student allegedly shot the student in the foot, causing a non-life-threatening injury.

The suspect was apprehended and taken into custody by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

The lockdown was lifted by 12:35 p.m. and students were sent home.

School staff and district staff including VVUHSD Superintendent Dr. Ron Williams were on scene immediately to manage the situation and make sure students were sent home safely. There is no further threat to the campus or its students.

12:54 PM - Police have confirmed that they are investigating an incident at Victor Valley High School involving a small group of juveniles. An altercation occurred in a parking lot at the school and one male was shot in the foot. The shooter has been detained and there is no further threat at this time. Please avoid this area as deputies complete their investigation. Updates will be posted as they are available.
