On Friday, April 30, 2021, at 9:04 am, Deputy Brent Faylor with the Apple Valley Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle for no rear license plate. The driver, later identified as Mark Jenkins, failed to yield, and a pursuit ensued.
During the 2-mile pursuit, Jenkins drove at excessive speeds of 70 mph in residential neighborhoods, ran multiple stop signs, and drove on the opposite side of the road. The pursuit ended when Jenkins almost collided with a tree at a residence located in the 13000 block of Kiowa Road and was taken into custody without incident.
Jenkins was booked into High Desert Detention Center for felony evading. He is scheduled to appear in the Victorville Superior Court on May 4, 2021. He is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
