On Tuesday, deputies with the Victorville Police Department were requested to respond to a stolen vehicle call in the 16500 block of D Street. The 2019 BMW was parked at a business when a male subject got in and drove away.
At approximately 12:30 p.m., deputies spotted the vehicle being driven northbound on Hesperia Road. A traffic stop was attempted and the suspect, later identified as Mykus Ceballos, failed to yield. The suspect continued to travel at a high rate of speed and entered the northbound 15 Freeway at D Street. Deputies, assisted by Sheriff’s Aviation, and California Highway Patrol, pursued the stolen vehicle as it travelled the freeway, from Victorville through the City of Barstow. The 50-mile pursuit came to an end just north of Minneola Road when the BMW ran out of gas. Mara Rodriguez of VVPD tells HD Daily News that there are reports of speeds at approximately 120 mph on the freeway during the pursuit.
The suspect was taken into custody without incident and will be booked at High Desert Detention Center for theft of a vehicle and evading a Peace Officer with disregard for safety.
